ERIN T. MCELMURRY
Erin takes pride in being able to bring out the full potential of every horse and rider she has the pleasure of working with using classical dressage techniques. She is a sensitive and knowledgeable trainer that has everyone's best interest and safety in mind at all times. While creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere, she can teach you the skills needed to arrive confidently at the next level.
Erin's love for horses started at the age of 7 when she began taking lessons to learn the basic fundamentals of being around horses. In just a few short years it was clear that she was on the path for a career with horses. She attended the Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center where she graduated "Grand Champion" of her school receiving a Certified Teaching and Training Degree in Dressage with a 4.0 GPA and Honors.
After college she was accepted into a working student program in the Netherlands. While there, she had the pleasure of working with some of Europe's Finest Dressage Trainers, such as Sven Rottenberger and Anky Van Grusavan.
Upon returning to the USA she continued to further her education and training skills for several years by working with many FEI Trainers and taking the positions of a Working Student, Barn Manager, and Assistant Trainer for Hilda Gurney, Brad Cutshall, and Kristine Morris.
Erin has been Teaching and Training Professionally since 1996. Since establishing Hawthone Sterling Farms, LLC in 2006 she has been providing her clients with the highest standard of care, training and services.
Erin has started many young horses under saddle and brought them through the levels. She has several times over been the solution to the confused horse owner that bounces from trainer to trainer looking for the correct and positive solution to their horse's training needs.
Erin is a USDF Silver Medalist and currently competing through FEI Intermediate I earning scores in the upper 60's. Presently, she is devoted to schooling and perfecting all Intermediate II and Grand Prix movements for the future show season.
While helping her students perfect their levels of training, Erin is always continuing her education by attending clinics with such international level riders as Michelle Gibson and Nancy Smith whom provide excellent knowledge from the German Dressage World.
